Massa - Ferrari not favourites

Felipe Massa has played down Ferrari's performance in
pre-season testing and said he does not think they start the new
Formula One season as favourites. After topping the timesheets in the opening pre-season test in
Valencia, Ferrari have failed to set the ultimate pace in three
subsequent outings. Even so, they remain there or thereabouts, showing consistent pace over
longer runs and with Massa's new team-mate Fernando Alonso declaring
the new F10 to be the best car he has ever driven. But Massa, who was third quickest overall in Barcelona last week - less
than a tenth of a second slower than overall pacesetter Lewis Hamilton
- has denied Ferrari are the team to beat, claiming instead they are
one of several teams in with a chance. "We did what we had planned to do at the beginning of this month of
testing: we're very happy with the work done," Massa said after
Sunday's final day at the Circuit de Catalunya. |
